" Our aim is not only to
make the child understand, and still less to force him
to memorise, but so to touch his imagination as to enthuse
him to his innermost core"
- DrMaria Montessori-
Dr. Montessori discovered that children between ages 6 to
12 have their own special sensitivities for learning. They
need a different kind of prepared environment and different
types of lessons.
The Montessori Elementary environment feeds the need of
a child to explore through careful analysis and logical
thinking. This in turn strengthens the child's aptitude
for using the power of abstraction to educate himself in
a wider sphere than of the basic classroom. The curriculum
accommodates the child's natural curiosity towards the relationship
between biological, physical and cultural phenomena, etc.
by integrating various aspects of the curriculum.
The child continues to experience the process of personal
growth in an Elementary environment. The environment fills
the thriving child with joy and rapture; facilitating the
self-development of independence a boost for the
child's cognitive growth, development of the personality
and love of learning.
The child is capable of using his imagination to explore
and work harmoniously with those around him.
Concrete materials are still important at the initial stage.
The curriculum is unique for its materials and programme
which allows the child to effortlessly ascend from concrete
exposure to abstract application .
